QD: News Every Day--Give us your drugs


The Drug Enforcement Administration is coordinating “National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day” this Saturday, encouraging people to turn in their unused prescription drugs. The agency hopes the event will help decrease rates of crime and addiction linked to prescription drug abuse, the New York Times reports.

Doctors who are overweight are more comfortable talking to their overweight patients about slimming down, possibly because they’re considering doing so themselves, according to the LA Times. And in related news, the Washington Post looks at the financial consequences of weight loss therapy for patients whose insurers won’t cover it.
